Principles of Publication Ethics aimed at counteracting unfair publication practices

To counter unfair publication practices, the editors of the journal “Pedagogical Contexts” (“Konteksty Pedagogiczne”) apply the rules:

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES APPLICABLE TO THE PUBLISHER

The publisher is obliged to:

  • comply with all ethical standards, while simultaneously maintain the principles of freedom of education during the whole publishing process;
  • conduct an impartial and independent publishing policy;
  • ensure that the standards of confidentiality and the security of personal data of authors are met;
  • comply with and maintain editorial standards;
  • publish full texts of the articles in the form of an electronic version of the journal’s website within two weeks from the publication of the printed version;
  • make use of the electronic system for the identification of the scientific articles according to the DOI to allow them for being cited and to ensure their unrestricted online accessibility.

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES APPLICABLE TO THE EDITORIAL STAFF

The editors are obliged to:

  • make responsible decisions about the acceptance or rejection of submitted articles;
  • respect the applicable legal norms regarding copyright in the process of reviewing;
  • make use of the double-blind review procedure in the reviewing process;
  • eliminate conflicts of interest that may exist between authors and reviewers;
  • apply a uniform procedure of reviewing and publishing articles sent by the authors;
  • inform the authors that ghostwriting and guest authorship are a manifestation of scientific misconduct and that the institutions employing them will be informed of any cases of dishonesty.

ETHICAL RULES APPLICABLE TO THE AUTHORS

The authors are obliged to:

  • submitting a declaration that they have read and act in accordance with the principles of publishing ethics;
  • indicate the percentage of authors’ contribution to the creation of the scientific article and identify the sources of its financing;
  • declare that the article has not been previously published and that it is an original scientific article whose content does not violate the rights of third parties.
